This exhibition provides an informed presentation on part of the graphic work of Silva Porto (1850-1893), interpreting a set of drawings from the collection of the Sociedade Nacional de Belas Artes - SNBA. Specifically, his innovative look at the territory is framed, characterized by the novelty of the air book style and the approach to the territory's identity traits: landscapes, trees, animals and people. It brings together a set of 32 drawings and a painting, promoting a contextualized reading of its genesis. | |||||

“Travels are the artist's great book. As necessary to him as the Bible and Latin to a priest. Moral food is in the book of the world (...)”. It is with this idea of Amadeo that we challenge you to undertake this exhibition journey. |
He established himself in Portuguese painting as a landscaper, also asserting himself as an interpreter of rural scenes and an excellent animalist, but above all he distinguished himself as a Painter of History. |
Vacant look, distant thought, imposing figure, when Eduardo was not in his sanctuary – Foto Arte, on Rua Cândido dos Reis, in Amarante, opened by his father in 1930 – he wandered around Amarante with his inseparable companion - a camera. |
