Biography
Born in Matosinhos, she graduated from the E.S.B.A.P. She is the author of numerous public monuments, to wit in Matosinhos, Santo Tirso, South
Africa, V.N. Gaia, Paredes, Lisbon (F.C.G.), at the courts of Oporto, Paços de Ferreira, Valença and Moimenta da Beira.
Irene Vilar has a very vast set of Works in the fields of statues and medallistics. She has worked with a vast variety of materials from stone to wood and
bronze. Endowed with Expressionist feature, her work has swung between the figurative (particularly in orders tribute monuments) and the abstract, an
area in which she carried out complex pieces.
