Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Municipal Museum joins the Portuguese Contemporary Art Network.

27 February, 2023

The Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Municipal Museu mis part of the Portuguese Contemporary Art Network (RPAC), a dynamising platform that will promote the interaction of institutions spread across the country.

"The integration of the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Municipal Museum into the Portuguese Contemporary Art Network continues a strategy of integration into national cultural and museological networks with a view to strengthening partnerships and reinforcing our position on a national scale. It is also a great responsibility that encourages us to continue our work in the field of Contemporary Art. The Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Prize is an example that this commitment already has roots in our museum, from which the MMASC's Contemporary Art collection is linked as a legacy," says Rosário Correia Machado, director of the Amarante Culture Department.

Created to prioritise a sustained cultural policy of proximity, with a view to promoting territorial decentralisation, RPAC aims to be a platform of reference, supporting the activity of spaces dedicated to contemporary art as well as artists, curators, creators, public or private promoters.

As a new public policy in culture, RPAC aims to encourage the circulation of the different public and private works and collections that exist in Portugal, contributing to their enjoyment by citizens.

In addition to MMASC, 66 facilities are part of RPAC, including the Arpad Szenes Vieira da Silva Museum, The National Museum of Contemporary Art- Museu do Chiado, Culturgest, the Serralves Foundation and the Elvas Museum of Contemporary Art, among others.
