Museum hosts "MUSE" with 30 works in honour of Teixeira de Pascoaes

On 11 December, the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Museum will exhibit the works of the 23 participants in the open call "Create a work of art inspired by one of Teixeira de Pascoaes' poems". This is an initiative of the Municipality of Amarante, in partnership with Galeria MUSO, created to pay tribute to Teixeira de Pascoaes and which will result in the exhibition "MUSE".

Ana Duarte, Ana Isabel de Jesus Loreto, Andre Montanha, Chantal Mendes, Claudia Handem, Cristiana da Silva, Doubrere Aurélien, Fernando Gabriel, Geraldo Eanes, Jaroslaw Mankiewicz, Joana Antunes, José Rosinhas, Maja Babic Kosir, Margarita, Miguel Uria, Patrícia Ferreira, Pedro Coutinho, Romas Tauras, Rute Pereira, Susana Carvalho, Vieira Saraiva and Vieira Saraiva participated with 30 works of painting, drawing and photography.

On the occasion of the 70th anniversary of the death of one of Portugal's greatest poets, contemporary national and international artists were invited to create a work inspired by one of Teixeira de Pascoaes' poems.

The jury - made up of the visual artists Amber Rose, Pedro Maia, Wiola Stankiewicz and Zuzanna Hope; the university professor specialising in Teixeira de Pascoas, António Cândido Franco; and representing the Department of Culture of the Municipality of Amarante, Aida Guerra - selected the 30 works that will be exhibited on 11 December in the MMASC's temporary exhibition room and can be visited until 26 February. A catalogue of the exhibition will also be published, featuring all the works and their poems, which will be translated into English for the first time.
