Biography
Born in Luanda, he graduated in Sculpture from the E.S.B.A.P. he has had lively activity in sculpture, design, medallistics and theatrical scenography.
He has worked with the Oporto University Theatre, the Experimental Theatre of Oporto, the Experimental Theatre of Cascais, the Hoje Theatre Group.
He has numerous works at public spaces, to wit in Oporto, V.N. Cerveira, Viana do Castelo, etc. he received the Amadeo de Souza-Cardoso Prize, the Portuguese Art Criticism Prize, the Press Prize for the best scenic space carried out in Lisbon (1972), the Sculpture Prize for the Biennial of V.N. Cerveira.
He was one of the Founders of the “Os Quatro Vintes” Group.
Initially, he explored linear and philiform elements which related pieces with their space, sometimes moving through the action of nature.
Subsequently, he became interested in mythological themes, both in sculpture, ceramics and drawing, often self-portraying themselves.
