Biography
Born in Ponta Delgada, after two years in Law, he was to transfer to the E.S.B.A.P., where he finished the Complementary Course in Painting and
became a teacher. In 1976 he founded the “Puzzle” Group with João Dixo, Albuquerque Mendes and Armando Azevedo, inter alia. In 1978 he had a
scholarship with the F.C.G.. he has carried out work in the field of painting, literary illustration and graphic design.
The works of Carlos Carreiro brought together acting and narration, deploying superlative processes of figuration; he included elements of
surrealism, “pop art”, comics and kitsch. Daily situations, historic and mythological episodes and every kind of scenes are combined in work full of
humour and vitality.
